Invitation: Parents of Minimally Verbal Children (Ages 3–7) for a Shared Reading Study

By Hsiao-Ting Su April 5, 2026 Posted in AAC Assessment & Therapy

Hello! I’m Hsiao-Ting, currently a doctoral student in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. My dissertation focuses on home shared reading resources and experiences for families of minimally verbal children ages 3–7 in Taiwan.

Who Can Participate?

Parents or primary caregivers of minimally verbal or non-verbal children ages 3–7. “Minimally verbal” means the child has limited verbal expression, typically able to independently say fewer than 100 words. Whether or not you currently read with your child, you are very welcome to participate!

How?

An online survey that takes approximately 15–20 minutes to complete.

Purpose

We hope to better understand parents’ shared reading experiences so that future support services can better meet families’ needs.

Incentive

All participants who complete the survey are entered into a drawing. Ten winners will be randomly selected to receive a 7-Eleven e-gift card worth NT$300 each.

If you know families who may qualify, we sincerely invite you to share this information. Parents are also welcome to contact me directly. Thank you for your support!
